Calculation assumptions
- Comparison of two loans on the same outstanding capital and the same term. The lender's settlement statement prevails.
- The term is assumed UNCHANGED. Refinancing that shortens or lengthens it changes the interest for a reason other than the rate: the comparison would no longer be honest.
- Borrower's insurance is not included. Changing it is a separate step and may be worth more than the rate itself.
- The penalty is calculated AT the legal cap. A contract may provide for less, or none: check your loan offer before committing.
- Gains are expressed in current euros, without discounting: a euro saved in ten years counts as much as one saved tomorrow.
