French sworn statement: free generator
A sworn statement (attestation sur l'honneur) is a written declaration by which you certify that a fact or situation is true (residence, hosting, family situation, no conviction…). No CERFA form is required in the general case: a dated and signed declaration is enough. Fill in the fields below to generate your statement ready to print (Word or PDF) — free of charge.

- Identity document
What you get
- The document as a PDF, ready to print and sign.
- The same document in Word (.docx), so you can edit it before signing.

The generated document is written in French — the language the receiving French authority expects. This page is in English; the document itself is not translated.
Generate your document
Free. The document is generated on demand: your entries are not recorded in any of our databases and are only used to produce it. They travel in the request body, never in the page address.
All fields are required unless marked “optional”.
A draft is a file you save wherever you like, just like the document itself: we keep no copy of it and nothing is left in your browser. When signed in, you can also save it to your space to pick it up later — only if you ask.

Document drafted by ActioFin; it carries no legal standing before the tax authorities. Read it through and adapt it to your situation before signing.
This document is signed by hand, after printing: we do not offer electronic signature. Only a qualified electronic signature, issued by a certified provider, carries the same weight as a handwritten one (eIDAS regulation). A mere click would not — and letting you believe otherwise would expose you the day a body challenges it.
Who this applies to
- Anyone asked by an administration, an organisation or a third party to certify a fact it cannot verify directly.
- Common cases: hosting or residence attestation, cohabitation, declaration of no conviction for company registration, document handover.
Worked example
Example: Sofia for a nursery application
For her son's nursery application, Sofia must certify on her honour that she lives alone with her child. She adapts the wording to her exact situation, states the fact precisely without generalities, dates and signs — the file is complete in five minutes.
How to fill it in, step by step
- Identify the recipient and the purpose of the statement.
- State your full name, date of birth and address.
- State the certified fact precisely and verifiably.
- Add the sworn wording (« j'atteste sur l'honneur que… »).
- Date and sign by hand.
The template, item by item
- Declarant identity
- Full name as on your identity document, and complete home address.
- Certified fact
- State the fact precisely and factually (one fact per statement).
- Place, date and signature
- The statement must be dated, localised and signed by hand after printing to be admissible.
Good to know
- Certify one precise, verifiable fact — never a generality; vague wording gets rejected.
- A false statement is punishable by one year of imprisonment and a €15,000 fine (article 441-7).
- The statement is produced when the requesting organisation asks for it — check the deadline of the procedure concerned.
Common mistakes
- Certifying a fact you are not sure of: a false statement is an offence (French criminal code art. 441-7 — up to 1 year of imprisonment and a €15,000 fine).
- Forgetting the place and date, which condition admissibility.
- Mixing several unrelated facts in one statement instead of one statement per fact.
- Sending the statement without the proof of identity or the supporting document the body asked for.

Is a CERFA form required?
No in the general case: a free-form, dated and signed declaration is sufficient. Some specific procedures impose their own form.
Does the statement have to be handwritten?
No: it can be typed, but the signature must be handwritten. Print the generated document, then sign it.
Is this generator free?
Entirely: a freely available template is not something we sell. The document you generate is yours.
