Cost of a home employee calculator (Cesu)
Starting from the net hourly pay you hand over, the calculation rebuilds the gross wage, adds employer contributions, removes the flat-rate deduction of 2 € per hour worked, then subtracts the tax credit worth 50% of the expenses actually borne, capped at 12 000 € of expenses in the general case.

Calculation assumptions
- The calculation covers a home employee working in mainland France outside Bas-Rhin, Haut-Rhin and Moselle. Alsace-Moselle (extra employee health contribution), the overseas departments and regions and Mayotte (different rates and flat-rate deduction), in-home childcare and registered childminders follow their own schedules and are not modelled here.
- The gross wage is not rebuilt contribution by contribution: it is estimated from the ratio in the Urssaf schedule of minimum hourly pay for household employers — 13.87 € gross for 10.82 € net, paid leave included. That is an average conversion rate, exact at the schedule minimum and approximate elsewhere; your Cesu payslip is the authoritative document.
- The rates used are those applying below the monthly social security ceiling (4 005 €). Above it, supplementary pension moves to band 2 and the technical balance contribution is added: the result then becomes a lower bound, and a warning says so.
- No exemption from employer contributions is applied: over 70, recipient of the Apa, PCH or MTP allowances, disability inclusion mobility card, need for third-party assistance. Those exemptions cannot be combined with the 2 € flat-rate deduction — if you qualify, the real cost is lower than shown.
- The employer occupational health contribution (2.70% "within a 5 € ceiling") is not modelled: the source does not state how often that ceiling applies, and an invented figure would be worth less than a stated absence. The employer cost shown is therefore slightly understated.
- The tax credit is computed at the general-case ceiling, without the increase per dependent child or household member over 65, without the higher ceiling of the first year of direct employment and without the one applying in case of disability. The home-employment tax credit calculator covers those situations.
