Reporting changes since your last German pension account clarification (V0300)

If your German pension account has already been clarified, you do not start over: for changes since the last account clarification the Deutsche Rentenversicherung has a separate questionnaire, form V0300 (Fragebogen zu Änderungen seit der letzten Kontenklärung) — online on eAntrag or as a PDF. According to the Deutsche Rentenversicherung, after a clarification insured persons receive a notice on their pension record every six years; that is the moment to check it again. The duty is the same as for the first clarification (§ 149(4) SGB VI), and the same clock runs: without an objection within six calendar months after the record is sent, the data not yet fixed that lie more than six calendar years back are fixed by formal notice (§ 149(5) sentence 1).

Deadlines

Every six years after the clarification: a notice on the pension record
According to the Deutsche Rentenversicherung (announcement of 6 July 2026); the access code in the letter lets you update the record online
Six calendar months after the record is sent
§ 149(5) sentence 1 SGB VI — without an objection, the institution fixes by formal notice the data in the record not yet fixed that lie more than six calendar years back
After the pension decision: one month to object
According to the Deutsche Rentenversicherung (FAQ on the pension record), an objection can be lodged within one month of notification of the pension decision, and a request for review later — better to close the gap beforehand

Documents to prepare

  • Pension insurance number and the record from your latest notice
  • Surname, first name, birth name and date of birth
  • Approximate date of your last account clarification
  • For caring for a child: period, relationship to the child, decision on care benefits
  • Periods of preparatory training schemes, unfinished studies, sickness between 17 and 25 or registration as a training seeker — with evidence
  • For a civil-service pension: pension office, file reference, assessment sheet

Who this applies to

  • Insured persons whose account has already been clarified and who want to report new facts, or facts they did not state at the time
  • Insured persons receiving the notice on their pension record that, according to the Deutsche Rentenversicherung, follows a clarification every six years
  • Self-employed people and employees alike: the duty to cooperate in clarifying the insurance account applies to every insured person (§ 149(4) SGB VI)
  • NOT anyone who has never been through an account clarification: the application for account clarification, form V0100, is for that
  • NOT anyone expecting a decision on their pension: whether and how the stored data count is decided only when a benefit is determined (§ 149(5), last sentence, SGB VI)

Worked example

Thomas Becker, self-employed master electrician, updates his account six years after clarification

Thomas Becker, 50, had his account clarified in 2020 and received a formal notice fixing the data. In 2026 the notice on his pension record arrives. Reading it, he remembers two periods he did not state in 2020: three months of sickness at 19, and 24 months at a university of applied sciences he left without a degree. Both are credited periods: sickness after the 17th and before the 25th birthday lasting at least one calendar month, insofar as no other pension-relevant period covers it (§ 58(1) sentence 1 no. 1a SGB VI), and attending a university of applied sciences after the 17th birthday, eight years at most in total (no. 4). He does not use V0100 but the questionnaire on changes since the last account clarification (V0300), answers it on eAntrag and uploads his doctor's certificate from the time and his de-registration certificate. He learns no pension amount — how the periods count is decided only at pension time (§ 149(5), last sentence). Name, dates and months are illustrative.

How to fill it in, step by step

  1. Take the pension record from your latest notice and check it again for accuracy and completeness (§ 149(4) SGB VI).
  2. Note what has been added since the last clarification or was missing then: child-raising, school and university from 17, sickness between 17 and 25, registration as a training seeker from 17.
  3. Gather the evidence for each period — according to the Deutsche Rentenversicherung, for example certificates, proof of sickness periods or unemployment registration cards.
  4. Fill in questionnaire V0300 — online on eAntrag, as the Deutsche Rentenversicherung recommends (all you need to start is your pension insurance number), or as a PDF — and answer every question.
  5. Submit it with the evidence and check the new record when it arrives: six calendar months without objection lead to the data being fixed by formal notice (§ 149(5) sentence 1 SGB VI).

Good to know

  • A formal notice fixing the data is not forever: if the rules it rests on change, it is revoked with retroactive effect by a new notice or in the pension decision (§ 149(5) sentence 3 SGB VI).
  • School and university after the 17th birthday are credited periods, eight years at most in total (§ 58(1) sentence 1 no. 4 SGB VI); if more was fixed, the notice is revoked to that extent (§ 149(5) sentence 2).
  • Registration as a training seeker with a German employment agency after the 17th birthday, lasting at least one calendar month, is a credited period insofar as no other pension-relevant period covers it (§ 58(1) sentence 1 no. 3a SGB VI).
  • Child-raising periods are the child's first three years (§ 56(1) sentence 1 SGB VI); raising a child up to age ten is a consideration period (§ 57 sentence 1) — during self-employment above the marginal level only insofar as there are compulsory-contribution periods (§ 57 sentence 2).
  • The explanatory notes to the questionnaire (form V0301) are offered only as a PDF; this guide relies on the statute and on the Deutsche Rentenversicherung's text pages.

Common mistakes

  • Filling in the full application V0100 again after a completed clarification. Questionnaire V0300 is meant for changes since the last account clarification.
  • Filing the notice on your record away unread. Six calendar months without objection lead to the older data being fixed (§ 149(5) sentence 1 SGB VI).
  • Believing a notice fixing the data can never change. If the underlying rules change, it is revoked (§ 149(5) sentence 3 SGB VI).
  • Reporting periods without evidence. The duty to cooperate includes supplying the necessary documents and evidence (§ 149(4) SGB VI).
  • Entering sickness or studies before the 17th birthday: credited periods under § 58(1) sentence 1 nos. 1a and 4 SGB VI only start after it.

Frequently asked questions

When do I use V0300 rather than V0100?

When your account has already been clarified and you are reporting changes since the last account clarification. V0100 is the application for the first clarification.

How often does the Deutsche Rentenversicherung get in touch after a clarification?

According to the Deutsche Rentenversicherung, every six years with a notice on the pension record; the access code in the letter lets you update the record online.

Can a notice fixing the data still be changed?

Yes: if the rules it rests on change, it is revoked by a new notice or in the pension decision (§ 149(5) sentence 3 SGB VI). The same applies to schooling beyond the maximum duration (sentence 2).

Does sickness at a young age count?

Sickness after the 17th and before the 25th birthday lasting at least one calendar month is a credited period, insofar as the time is not covered by other pension-relevant periods (§ 58(1) sentence 1 no. 1a SGB VI).

Can I fill in the questionnaire online?

Yes, V0300 is available as an online form on eAntrag, which the Deutsche Rentenversicherung recommends; all you need to start is your pension insurance number.
