Worked example

Section RF and line RN4 for Paolo's SRL

Accounting profit €62,000. Upward adjustments €11,000, downward adjustments €1,500: business income is 62,000 + 11,000 − 1,500 = €71,500. Ordinary losses brought forward total €70,000, but at most 71,500 × 80% = €57,200 can be used. That leaves €14,300 taxable, and €12,800 of losses roll into the following year.

Practical case

Chiara's SRL and its losses

Chiara's SRL, incorporated seven years ago, closes 2025 with an accounting profit of €40,000. In the return, the accountant makes €6,000 of upward adjustments and €2,000 of downward adjustments. The company has €50,000 of ordinary losses brought forward, none from its first three periods. What taxable income remains after using losses, and how much loss rolls into the next year?

Hint: Work out business income in section RF first, then the annual cap on usable losses.

Show the solution

Business income: 40,000 + 6,000 − 2,000 = €44,000. Ordinary losses can offset at most 80 per cent of that income: 44,000 × 80% = €35,200. Taxable income left: 44,000 − 35,200 = €8,800. Losses still unused: 50,000 − 35,200 = €14,800, to be carried into later years.

Answer: €8,800 taxable and €14,800 of losses left

Practical case

A micro-enterprise and the accounting standards

A small SRL prepares its accounts in the micro-enterprise format under article 2435-ter of the Civil Code and has never opted for abridged or full accounts. Its director has read that tax follows the timing criteria of accounting standards and wants to apply them even where they depart from the tax rules. Does article 83 of the TUIR, as worded for 2026, allow this?

Show the solution

The override in paragraph 1 covers companies using international standards and those preparing Civil Code accounts, but it expressly leaves out micro-enterprises under article 2435-ter that have not opted for full or abridged accounts. This SRL therefore applies the tax rules of that part of the code without the override. Switching to abridged accounts in a future year would change the position.

Answer: No, alignment does not apply to this SRL
