Italian flat-rate regime or standard regime? Compare what you keep
Under the regime forfettario your real costs are not deducted: income is revenue times the profitability coefficient, and a single substitute tax replaces IRPEF and the regional and municipal surcharges. Under the standard regime you deduct actual costs but pay IRPEF by bands plus the surcharges. The flat-rate regime usually wins when costs are low; with high costs the standard regime can leave you more.

Calculation assumptions
- You enter your ATECO profitability coefficient and the social security contributions under each regime: the official tables are not built into the calculator. Contributions differ between regimes because they are worked out on different incomes.
- The business is your only income: no other income and no allowance other than the one for self-employment (no dependants, no deductible expenses).
- Under the standard regime, the regional and municipal surcharges are worked out with the combined rate you enter, applied to taxable IRPEF income.
- VAT (not charged under the flat-rate regime), IRAP and any excess flat-rate contributions deductible from other income are not taken into account.
