Calculation assumptions

  • Company located in mainland France: the higher rates for overseas departments (CIR and CII) and Corsica (CII) are not computed.
  • Public grants received for the research projects are deducted from the CIR base; grants received for the innovation project are to be subtracted from innovation expenses before entry, the official page requiring their deduction for the CII as well. They are deducted from the base of the year in which the expenses they are meant to cover are incurred, whatever the date they are paid: enter the share covering this year's expenses. The engine never takes the base below zero; any part not deducted is set against the base of the following years, which it does not compute. A repayable advance is deducted the same way and added back to the base in the year it is repaid: that add-back is not modelled.
  • Subcontracted operations are assumed to be entrusted to approved bodies or experts with no dependency link to the company: the reduced €2 million cap on related-party subcontracting is not modelled.
  • Innovation expenses entered are assumed to be distinct from research expenses (the same expense does not count twice) and to exclude the prototype's production phase; CII subcontracting actually shares the CIR caps, which the engine does not combine.
  • Excludes new-creation expenses of the textile-clothing-leather sector and separate schemes (collaborative research tax credit). Patent costs and technology watch no longer appear among the eligible expenses listed by the official page.
  • The amount shown is the tax credit claim computed per calendar year; its set-off against tax, carry-forward over the next 3 years and refund depend on the company's tax position, which is not entered.
