Worked example

The parent who combines without knowing it

A father pays 350 € a month for his sixteen-year-old son, who habitually lives with his mother. He deducts 4 200 € over the year, which is correct. The following year his son spends a few months with him and he ticks the dependent child box, while still deducting the maintenance. The combination is refused: one must choose between the increase in shares and the deduction, never add the two together.
