German private disposal gains and the holding period (EStG s. 23)
What decides the outcome is the date, not the gain: inside the period everything is taxed, one month later nothing is. For let property the depreciation already claimed is added back — it raises the gain without the price moving at all.

Calculation assumptions
- ONE disposal is computed here. The EUR 1,000 threshold, however, applies to the TOTAL gain of the calendar year: further sales in the same year can tip it.
- Depreciation already claimed reduces the acquisition cost (s. 23(3) sentence 4) and therefore raises the gain. Enter the total claimed over the holding period.
- The result is the taxable GAIN, not a tax: it is added to income and taxed under the s. 32a schedule.
