Italian maternity allowance for employees — how much you get
During maternity leave an Italian employee receives an allowance of 80 % of her average overall daily pay for the last pay period before the leave. Leave normally runs two months before and three months after the birth, plus the day of the birth, and the employer advances the allowance through the payslip.

Calculation assumptions
- The calculation covers employees; self-employed workers and members of the INPS separate scheme follow different rules.
- You enter the average overall daily pay and the number of days of leave: the calculator does not derive them from the payslip or the calendar.
- Any top-up provided by a collective agreement, and deductions from the allowance, are not taken into account.
