Italian interest deduction limit (TUIR art. 96) — the 30 % of EBITDA rule
Interest expense is deductible up to the year's interest income plus any income carried forward; the excess is deductible within 30 % of the year's ROL, then of ROL capacity carried forward. Undeducted interest carries forward; unused ROL capacity carries forward for five tax years.

Calculation assumptions
- The order follows article 96: first set-off against interest income, then 30 % of the year's ROL, and last the ROL capacity carried forward from earlier years.
- Enter the ROL capacity carried forward as an amount already reduced to 30 %, as paragraph 7 defines it. Only include amounts generated in the last five tax years: the calculator does not check their expiry.
- Financial intermediaries and insurers, public infrastructure projects, the domestic tax group and outright non-deductible interest are not covered. You enter the ROL yourself, already worked out under the tax rules.
