Calculation assumptions
- The calculation covers only the basic pension of the Assurance retraite (private-sector employees, self-employed workers, public-sector contract staff, artist-authors). Special schemes and the civil service follow different rules.
- Survivor's pensions from supplementary schemes (Agirc-Arrco in particular) are not computed: they have their own conditions and their own rate, and are sometimes claimed from another fund. The amount shown is therefore a floor, not the total received.
- The resources entered are assumed to be already assessed as the Assurance retraite does: the deceased's own income, supplementary survivor's pensions and income from assets acquired through the deceased are excluded, and earned income counts only up to 70%. This calculator performs none of those adjustments and does not distinguish the 3-month reference period from the 12-month one.
- The calculation follows the order of the official page: survivor's rate, minimum amount, reduction down to the resource ceiling, then the child increase applied to the retained amount. The legal texts do not state explicitly how the increase interacts with the reduction: this is a convention of this calculator, to be confirmed with the pension fund.
- Not computed: the increase linked to the beneficiary's age and resources, the flat-rate increase for each dependent child, and the floor setting the child increase at one tenth of the minimum amount when the survivor is not divorced from the deceased.
- The sharing of the survivor's pension between the surviving spouse and former divorced spouses, in proportion to the length of each marriage, is not modelled: the result assumes a single beneficiary.
- The amount shown is gross: CSG, CRDS and the additional solidarity contribution for autonomy are not deducted.
- The monthly amount is one twelfth of the annual amount, rounded down to the cent, as the source does for the minimum survivor's pension.
