Livret A, LDDS and LEP interest

Calculation assumptions

  • Interest is computed on the 1st and the 16th of each month: a year counts 24 fortnights. The calculation assumes a deposit made on the 1st of the month, with a value date of the 16th of the same month — so it earns nothing over its first fortnight. Withdrawals are not modelled.
  • The rate is assumed constant over the whole simulated term. Regulated savings rates are revised periodically, in principle on 1 February and 1 August: beyond a few months, the result is a projection at today's rate, not a forecast.
  • The opening balance is assumed already deposited on the first day of the period: it earns interest from the first fortnight. Interest accrued but not yet posted on 31 December is included in the closing balance.
  • When a deposit exceeds the remaining headroom, the calculation keeps the part that fits under the ceiling and treats the rest as refused. A bank may instead reject the whole operation.
  • LEP eligibility is not checked: it depends on a reference taxable income and on household composition, which are not asked here. The calculation does not check the one-account-per-person rule either.
