Italian IRES payments on account: how much a company pays, and when
The IRES payment on account is 100 % of the reference tax. It is paid in two instalments — 40 % with the balance, by the last day of the sixth month after the financial year ends, and 60 % by the last day of the eleventh month — unless the first instalment would not exceed EUR 103. ISA taxpayers pay two instalments of 50 % each.

Calculation assumptions
- The reference tax is entered by you: the previous period's IRES shown on the return, net of deductions, tax credits and withholdings.
- When the first instalment would not exceed EUR 103, the tool treats the payment on account as a single payment due on the second date: the Revenue Agency page does not say when the single payment falls due.
- Not covered: the forecast method, the later deadlines for companies approving their accounts more than four months after year end, the 0.40 % surcharge for paying within the following 30 days, and IRES premiale. The new-hire uplift is added back at the standard IRES rate.
