📋Представяне+
Gross-ups your net donation at 100/80 (the charity reclaims 25p per £1 given), computes the extra 20% or 25% relief higher and additional-rate donors can claim on the gross donation, checks you have paid enough tax to cover the charity's reclaim, and shows the Personal Allowance taper bonus in the £100,000–£125,140 zone.
💡 Добри практики
- Higher-rate taxpayers reclaim 20% of the gross donation via Self Assessment — a £100 gift costs them £75.
- Gift Aid reduces adjusted net income: donations in the £100k–£125k zone regain tapered Personal Allowance (up to 60% effective relief).
- You can carry a donation back to the previous tax year if you claim before filing that year's return.
🔢 Конкретен пример
£4,000 net donation, £110,000 income: the charity receives £5,000 (+£1,000), you reclaim £1,000 higher-rate relief (net cost £3,000) and regain £2,500 of tapered Personal Allowance — worth another £1,000.
📖Ръководство за употреба+
Как да използвате този калкулатор
- 1
Enter the amount you actually give (net donation).
- 2
Enter your taxable income to compute higher-rate relief.
- 3
Enter the income tax/CGT you paid this year for the tax-cover check.
- 4
Read what the charity receives, your relief and your effective cost.
📚Речник+
- Gross donation
- Your net gift × 100/80. A £100 donation becomes £125 for the charity — the reclaimed £25 is the basic-rate tax you already paid on that money.
- Tax cover
- You must have paid at least as much income tax or CGT in the year as all charities reclaim on your donations — otherwise HMRC can recover the shortfall from you.

FAQ — Gift Aid Calculator
How much does the charity get with Gift Aid?+
25p extra per £1 donated: the charity reclaims basic-rate tax, turning a £100 net gift into £125 — at no additional cost to you.
What do higher-rate taxpayers get back?+
The difference between their marginal rate and basic rate on the gross donation: 20% extra for 40% taxpayers, 25% for 45% taxpayers — claimed via Self Assessment or a tax-code adjustment.
What if I have not paid enough tax?+
Gift Aid requires you to have paid at least the reclaimed amount in income tax or CGT this year. If not, HMRC can ask you to make up the difference — do not tick the Gift Aid box.
