The one hard legal floor: the hourly rate across all hours worked (normal + overtime) must not fall below the National Living Wage (GBP 12.71/hour for workers 21+, from 1 April 2026). Under the National Minimum Wage Regulations 2015, any overtime PREMIUM is disregarded for this compliance check — only the base rate counts, even though the overtime hours themselves count toward total hours.
